Join us for a Saturday afternoon of music, laughter and joy as we discover what ‘home’ means to each of us. Whether it’s John Denver’s classic ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’, or the timeless Welsh melody of ‘The Ashgrove, My Home’, the Voices in Motion singers will delight our audience with their enthusiasm for being together in song.

Our special guests this afternoon will be Angela Scandale, soprano and Philip O’Reilly, tenor.

Angie Marie Scandale is a Mexican-Italian Canadian Classical singer, voice-over talent, and educator. Angie holds a Bachelor of Music degree with a major in vocal performance from the University of Victoria. A life-long singer, Angie has been performing as a soloist and ensemble singer in Victoria, Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal for over 25 years. In addition to her musical studies, Angie has pursued a love of working with children, obtaining her certification from the Association Montessori Internationale in Toronto. She has worked as a Montessori early childhood educator, music specialist and has supported preschool and kindergarten children with special needs. Angie is also a professional voice-over artist and audio editor who sings and voices for broadcast and non-broadcast projects for international clients from her home recording studio.

Philip O’Reilly holds a Bachelor of Music degree with a major in vocal performance as well as a B.Ed with a major in music education. During his studies, Philip performed extensively with the critically acclaimed UVic Chamber Singers, both as a featured soloist and ensemble singer, touring with the group throughout the U.S., Canada, Cuba, Belize, and Mexico. In addition to being an experienced vocal performer at various venues within the community, including the Butchart Gardens, Philip is also an accomplished pianist with Royal Conservatory training. An additional love of jazz has

led him to perform with the Commodores, Capital City Big Band, and other ensembles. Since 2005, Philip has been Music Director at St. Andrew’s Regional High School, where he has built an award-winning choral and band program. Originally a student of Mary Kennedy’s, Philip was first encouraged by her to pursue his post-secondary musical studies.

Angie and Philip met during their vocal studies at UVic. They have enjoyed performing together at many local events and functions throughout the years, including the first Voices in Motion Concert. They married in 2019 and had a daughter, Celeste, in 2020.
